The dog and the master
Today
morning is the news
Of
he who always had tread
With
great clout these avenues
But now lies quite dead-
A
master no doubt who
-I
hear- got torn into bits
Like
trespassers often do
-torn
for food like rabbits -
by his own dog!
Was
it rabid?
With
a rage so outrageous!
Its
bites deeply sunk and vicious!
A
dismemberment so complete
Yet
none done for the dog to eat!
Certainly,
Seeing the way it is,
You
couldn't say it had rabies.
Unbelievable
this
To
fall prey in such a way
Unknowing
of who betray
Until
the beast makes a wasteful feast
You
lie dying praying to your Christ
To
forgive they who know not what they do.
But
they do!
They
bite and gnaw
Clearly
in the know
That
they should've done so
Way,
way back -
Before
you built the walls,
The
prison that made you guard over
All
that is not yours...
That
evening of the master's coming
Hard
and chilly, stark and windy
In
the home of the re-known
In
the garage in the compound large
Abandoned
its habit-
This
dog did not sit.
It
pawed the gate's wrought iron
Scratched
the wall- its jailer
That immovable perimeter
The
immediate yet the horizon
Growling,
baring teeth in snarls
This
dog bayed in a home
On
the evening of the master's coming.
